Top Things to Do in New York City

Even for seasoned New Yorkers, preparing a list of 'Must Do Things' in New York City for a first time visitor is a tough job. There are so many things to do and so many places to go. Places like the Times Square, Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge are on every visitor's list. But, there are some treasured activities that you simply must indulge in when you're here.

Shopping:
The best part of being a tourist is your chance to indulge in a shopping spree. You can buy gifts for people at home and pamper yourself with all sorts of things. You can find some of the best department stores at Bloomingdale, Barney's, Henri and Lord & Taylor. During the sale season, prices are unbeatable. For discount shopping, you cannot miss Century 21, Gabay's Outlet and Syms. If chocolates are your thing, drop in at Jacques Torres boutiques, Hershey's and La Maison du Chocolate (at Rockefeller Center). In fact, chocolate hunting is one of the most interesting things to do in New York City.

Tour:
If touring is in your blood, then, you cannot miss the Rockefeller Center. A lot of activities and sights are in store for you here. This is the place to go if you want to see a humongous Christmas tree. You can also enjoy wonderful shopping and eating experiences. The Botanical Garden is the place to visit if you are a Nature lover. The Broadway Center is for techies. Kids too will enjoy the video games and the interactive experiences provided here. If, on the other hand, you're in love with the printed work, a visit to the public library is a must. If you are visiting NYC with your children, one of the best things to do in New York would be to take them to the Bronx Zoo where upwards of 6,000 species are waiting to entertain them. Another fun zone for kids would be Staten Island where you can hit the beach and even see family friendly concerts.

Eat:
New Yorkers are foodies. In fact, New York offers food tasting and walking tours. The Rockefeller center has great variety of dining experiences in store for the traveler, including La Maison du Chocolat, Rainbow Room, Sea Grill and so on.

Sports:
New Yorkers love a great game. So, do not miss shouting with fans whether it's basketball, baseball, hockey or boxing. The adrenalin rush at some of the stadiums has to be seen to be believed.

Non Phixion ft. DJ Premier - Rock Stars (Uncut) [HD]

From 2002 Album: "The Future Is Now"..... Non Phixion's Myspace: www.myspace.com Get Non Phixion's Music: www.discogs.com Non Phixion (pronounced "non-fiction") was a New York-based hardcore hip-hop group consisting of members Ill Bill, Goretex, Sabac Red, and DJ Eclipse. In late 1994, MC Serch (of 3rd Bass fame) took his protege Sabac and teamed him up with DJ Eclipse and Ill Bill, thereby creating the group known as Non Phixion. Within six months Goretex, a childhood friend of Ill Bill, had joined the crew after freestyling for MC Serch. Six months later they had released their first single, "Legacy". It went on to sell over 10000 copies worldwide. MC Serch secured the group a deal with major label Geffen Records. Serch used half of the advance to build a studio for the group, but faced with a recent marriage and lack of money himself, as he was receiving no money up front from the Geffen deal, he went on to take a promotion job with Def Jam Records. His lack of time spent with the group was seen as disinterest from the label, however Non Phixion continued to make songs, often working with Ill Bill's brother Necro. Through independent distributor Fat Beats (whom DJ Eclipse also worked for), Serch kept releasing singles for the group and they continued to garner underground notoriety. Eventually a series of mis-communications between the group, Serch and Geffen over the whereabouts of money led to Non Phixion being dropped by the label. Following their attempt at a major ...

Michael Jordan's Basketball Accomplishments

Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born in Brooklyn New York and grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Michael was an all around athlete while in middle school and excelled at baseball, basketball, and football. But his favorite sport was baseball. It was through endless games of one-on-one basketball against his older brother Larry that Michael developed his competitiveness, and his love for basketball.

In high school Michael joined the JV basketball team at Laney high school. During Michael's sophomore year, the varsity team needed additional players for an upcoming tournament, and held a tryout. Michael tried out but was not chosen due to his lack in size. Michael was extremely hurt by this experience and vowed to never let it happen again. The next year Michael grew 6 inches and began to dominate his opponents.

Michael caught the eye of Roy Williams, then the assistant of coach Dean Smith of North Carolina and invited Michael to a camp for promising high school players. Coach Smith liked Jordan immediately and recruited him for North Carolina. Michael went on to start his freshman year, and hit the gaming winning shot of the 1982 NCAA championship game. He calls that the turning point of his entire career.

After North Carolina Michael Jordan played 15 seasons in the NBA, 13 years for the Chicago Bulls from 1984 to 1998, and then 2 seasons for the Washington Wizards from 2001 to 2003. In those 15 years, Michael Jordan achieved these accomplishments.

Rookie of the year (1985)

6 NBA Championships (1991-1993, 1996-1998)

5 regular season MVP (1988, 1991-1992, 1996, 1998)

How to Become a Medical Malpractice Lawyer in New York

There's an old joke that asks "How do you get to Cargenie Hall?" The answer is "Practice."
The same can be said for becoming a medical malpractice lawyer in New York.

My first boss, a well-known trial attorney in New York, told me one day after an exhausting and productive day, that trial lawyers are not born great trial lawyers. Rather, they must practice their trade day in and day out. Only through experience and practice can one become a truly good lawyer.

Becoming a lawyer

In order to become a lawyer in New York, you must attend four years of college. You then must take the LSAT (law school admission test) and apply for admission to law school. Law school is usually a three year program, and once you finish school- you must take the New York State Bar Exam. This is a two day exam that tests your knowledge of general and specific areas of law. Once you pass the bar exam, you must pass an interview with the character and fitness committee in the County in which you live. Once you have passed the interview you will be permitted to practice law in the State of New York.

Gaining experience

Most attorneys will go to work for a law firm to gain experience, and after a few years, move to a different firm. Some will open their own law firms, and some will remain where they started. One of the best ways to gain experience in medical malpractice law in New York is to work in a defense litigation firm that handles medical malpractice defense. There you will learn to handle the file, deal with paperwork, attend court conferences, deal with clients, take depositions, and if you're lucky, assist senior attorneys with trials. In years past, the younger associates at such defense firms could easily count on starting their own trials within one to two years of passing the bar. However, with malpractice cases being so complex, and physicians and insurance companies being weary of the young novice attorney representing such significant matters, it's unlikely that you will be handling your own trial until you are either a partner, or have many years of experience under your belt- even if you are the smartest attorney to come out of your class.

Medical malpractice law

Medical malpractice law is a sub-specialty of tort law- also known as personal injury law. The only way to become good at it is to gain experience by practice and guidance with a senior trial lawyer who handles these cases on a day to day basis. Not only do you need to learn the law specific to medical malpractice issues, but you also have to become somewhat of an expert on the medicine involved in the case.

Learning the medicine occurs by reading medical literature, medical textbooks, speaking with physicians, consulting with your medical experts, and treating doctors. Learning how to apply that knowledge to your case is what takes time and experience. Learning how to cross-examine a doctor at a deposition or question him skillfully at trial is what separates the good attorney from the excellent attorney.

Contrary to what we see on television, the key to being a good trial attorney who handles medical malpractice cases is preparation. Preparation of the medicine, preparation of your records, exhibits, your clients, and your experts; in a word: Preparation. You must know your case better than your own client does. You must educate the Court about your case, the law involved specifically in your case, and must convey your knowledge to the jury in a way that makes your case more believable than your adversary's case.

My own experience

In my daily practice, I truly enjoy handling medical malpractice cases. I enjoy speaking with potential clients who call to see whether they have valid cases that warrant investigating and prosecuting. The hardest part of my job is telling a potential client that I cannot accept their case. When that happens the natural question is "Why can't you take my case?" The answer to that question can be simple or complex depending on the type of case they're calling about.

Being able to help victims of medical malpractice is always rewarding, as many of these victims cannot help themselves and need legal help with rebuilding their lives, their finances and their frail bodies.

For those who call for tort reform, keep in mind that there are many instances of valid malpractice cases here in New York that so few contrarians even wish to discuss. Rather, they want to focus on a few bad apples who bring cases that are questionable. Instead of focusing on a few bad apples, keep your mind focused on what can be done to prevent malpractice from happening, and once it does happen, how to properly and fully compensate the injured victim.

'Telectroscope' Allows View Across the Atlantic

Technology'Telectroscope' Allows View Across the Atlantic'Telectroscope' Allows View Across the AtlanticThe Associated PressA transatlantic portal has opened in New York and London - not a means of transportation, but an art project that links the two cities in real time via fibre optic imaging. (May 23)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] London seemed just a stone's throw away for people visiting the Brooklyn Bridge on its 125th Anniversary. And Londoners near the Tower Bridge, well, they could see a tree grow in Brooklyn, all thanks to a visionary artist and two "telectroscopes." The "telectroscopes" - one set up on each side of the "pond" - allow people to see and communicate with their counterparts in real time via fibre optic imaging. What is "Summary Judgment?"

You think you have a good case.

Your lawyer tells you that you have a solid case.

Your lawyer tells you that your case has been reviewed by a medical expert who feels that there were departures from good and accepted medical care that caused you permanent harm. You have met all the requirements to bring your lawsuit in the Supreme Court (the trial level court) in the State of New York.

You proceed with discovery- exchanging medical records and other papers. You appear for a deposition (a question and answer session where the defense lawyer gets to question you at length about what happened to you and what injuries you suffered because of the malpractice). The doctors who treated you are questioned by your lawyer.

Your lawyer continues to tell you that you have a good case. Except for one problem...

The defense lawyers have now asked the trial Court to dismiss your case. They've made a motion for summary judgment. There are many reasons a defense lawyer could use to ask for your case to be dismissed. The most common one is to claim that there simply is no malpractice. The defense lawyer will usually support this claim with statements from the doctors you have sued where they swear up and down that there is no evidence of wrongdoing. They may claim that whatever happened to you was out of their control, or a "known complication" that can occur with your procedure/treatment/medical care. The defense will claim that there is no "Question of fact" as the facts are not contested. They will also claim that the only issue is one of 'law' which must be decided by the Judge assigned to the case, and not one of 'fact' which would usually be decided by a jury of one's peers.

When faced with a defense lawyer's request to dismiss your case, your lawyer must now bring out all of his ammunition in order to fend off this potentially lethal assault on your claim. Your attorney will prepare a detailed statement for you to sign which explains in detail the facts of your case. It will also set forth why you believe you have a valid and meritorious case. In New York, your attorney is then required to have your expert detail the specific reasons why he or she believes there is a valid case. Your lawyer's 'affirmation in opposition' will detail all of the factual inconsistencies that exist in the medical care rendered to you.

Only by establishing that there are 'Questions of Fact' for a jury to decide, will the defense lose their request. If there are no real questions of fact that exist either by competing experts, or from the parties to the case, then your case will likely be dismissed by the Court before you ever get to trial. If this happens, you should seriously consider an appeal after evaluating the reason why your case was dismissed. In most medical malpractice cases, if both sides submit expert statements that are opposed, that will usually be sufficient to create questions of fact that will require a jury to decide.

A defense attorney must evaluate the likelihood of winning such a motion before deciding to proceed forward with such a time-intensive and research intensive event. The only favorable thing that will occur for the defense- if they proceed with a motion for summary judgment, regardless of whether they win the motion or not, is that they will learn of the plaintiff's expert witness much earlier than they normally would, and also the detailed substance of what he will testify about at trial. This tends to flush out the expert and his testimony. If your lawyer tries to oppose the 'motion to dismiss' without a statement from your medical expert, you can be sure that your case will be summarily dismissed.

Hopefully you will not encounter this request to dismiss prior to trial. Keep in mind that even if your case proceeds to trial, the defense is entitled to ask the Court at the end of your presentation of evidence, to dismiss your case before they even put on any defense witnesses. With proper proof, expert testimony that supports your claim, you will have established a 'prima facie case' which means that you will have proven all the elements necessary to have your case decided by the jury.

How a Victim Can Stop the Cycle of Abuse

You get yelled at, pushed, punched, slapped, kicked, called names; yes these are all examples of abuse. Let's first look at the definition of a victim in case you question if this is your situation or not. A victim is defined as an unfortunate person who suffers from a destructive or injurious action added to the definition of abuse is to mistreat or treat badly, cruel or inhumane, use of foul or abusive language, rude expressions intended to offend or hurt. If you suffer from any of these definitions you are indeed a victim of abuse.

Just because the person causing this pain says they are sorry however it keeps happening, they are not sorry. One definition of sorry is regret, when a person regrets something they will not continue the same behavior over and over again. They feel contrite or they feel pain and sorrow. When your abuser says sorry is this what they truly feel? Does it ever happen again? If it does they are not sorry and it will not stop.

However let's take the focus off of them and turn to you. You have to take control away from your abuser and put the control into your own hands. This behavior will continue until you realize and accept you are letting this happen. Why would I say this? Try and imagine yourself free from being victimized and imagine what your life would be like without abuse. Those peaceful thoughts you imagine can be a reality if you take back the control in your life. That's not to say you won't need help.

Begin your research into finding where you can get help, knowing there are so many different avenues and options available. Talk to a trusted family member or close personal friends, tell them your situation and I am sure they will help you. One of the biggest mistakes ones make is to try and keep it to themselves.

One survey reports that out of people that report abuse 75% of women murdered are at the hands of an abuser that they have been in a relationship with and 16% are men murdered at the hands of their abuser. Some may feel confused, afraid and trapped. You don't want to be added to those statistics plan a safe exit. If you are in a relationship with a cycle of abuse it will only get worse because your abuser has to continue to control you and instill fear in you. Most times making you feel that it's your fault. It's never ever your fault, it's their own insecurities.

The most important action you can take to stop being a victim is to seek safe help. Never think abusive actions are acceptable. Stop the abusive cycle and don't become another statistic. Those numbers are real and are alarming. Take it seriously and seek help.

Cappuccino: Monk's Hood or Just Good?

"Wake Up And Smell The Cappuccino!" ~ The Dorfman Archives

The two years I spent in Italy in the 1970s marked in some ways the best
times of my life. I was a student in a small Umbrian city, (Perugia, where
they make all that wonderful candy that does all those not so wonderful
things to your teeth, but who cares). There I learned more from living
each day than I ever gleaned from any version of Dante's Inferno and/ or
Paradiso. The ways of the world are universal; the human element
uniting all of us with a common thread. Italian men, however, represent
a particular work in progress I shall call the Peacock Syndrome. I wish to
acknowledge that this condition is often found in men of all ethnic
backgrounds, persuasions and nationalities as well, but in smaller
degrees. (Women, Italian and otherwise, have other problems). My point
will be illustrated with a picture that hopefully will neither need one
thousand words nor ignite the cosmopolitan masculine world against
me.

I will never forget a February morning in Perugia when I spied from my
warm perch a young Italian man sipping an expresso at a café on the
town's main street, Corso Vanucci. (Maybe it was really anti-freeze he
was drinking. Who knows?) Anyway, it was a memorable sight because
he was seated directly opposite me, but OUTSIDE, despite the freezing
temperatures and chopping winds that ripped through the tablecloth.
Still, the handsome devil wore no coat. His shirt was open down to his
waist as if it were high August. Was he not the proud peacock showing
off so that passing women could not fail to notice the multitude of virile
hairs (peacock feathers) that had frozen upon his chest? That image has
never left me, nor has my love for Italian culture and cappuccino, that
frothy confection of milk and expresso topped with whipped cream and
sprinkled with cinnamon!

My adventures in this charming city were not limited to Italian men,
although I did experience la Dolce Vita in my own particular way. My
sense of bad timing originated here where I tasted my first cappuccino
some three weeks before I had to return to America. The latteria (dairy
store) was hidden behind a small narrow street (calle) that I discovered
one day completely by accident. To make things worse, it was the best
cappuccino I ever tasted. The cream was scrumptious and I often had
two or three cappuccinos in one sitting just to down some more of it. I
even commented to a fellow student that I would have done just as well
plastering the contents directly onto my hips and thighs instead of
drinking it, as that was where it was headed anyway!

Where did this wonderful beverage come from? Coffee originated in the
Ottoman Empire and was first introduced to the West by Italian traders.
At first, Pope Clement VII was urged by his advisors to consider this
favorite drink of infidels a threat. After he tasted it, however, he
succumbed to a perogative that women have relied on for years: he
changed his mind. Pope Clement actually baptized the delicious drink,
making it an acceptable Christian beverage. No one knows for sure
exactly where cappuccino came from, but there are a few sneaky
suspicions. The most popular belief is that the drink gets its name from
the robes and cowl of The Capuchin Monk's habit. How so, say you?
Well, read on.

The Capuchin order of friars played an important role in restoring
Catholicism to Reformation Europe. Its Italian name came from the long,
pointed cowl or cappuccino, derived from capuccio, meaning hood.
Capuchin was later used as the name (first recorded in English in 1785)
for a type of monkey with a tuft of black cowl-like hair. The first use of the
word cappuccino in English is recorded in 1948. Whether or not this
exquisite beverage was invented by the Capuchin monks is unknown. It
is a fact however, that a properly prepared cappuccino of expresso and
steamed milk leaves a brown ring along the rim of the cup much like the
edge of the monk's cowl. (Does this mean there is still hope for the ring
around my bathtub to become famous?)

Have you ever wondered exactly how Cappuccino is made? Well, the
basis for any cappuccino worth its salt (or grinds) is a strong blend of
Expresso coffee with added milk or frothy cream topped with chocolate
powder. The correct proportions are 1/3 expresso, 2/3 froth. To produce
the froth, fill a small jug to 1/3 with fresh milk. Insert the expresso
machine-frothing arm to just below the surface and turn on the steam,
gradually lowering the jug but keeping the arm in place. Add half of the
froth into the expresso coffee and sprinkle with cocoa powder or grated
chocolate. Add the rest of the froth and top with more cocoa. (If you do it
right, the process might never end.)

Cappuccino is more than just a coffee or a flavor or a process. Now one
can find chocolate cappuccino cookies and even lollipops that can offer

Tupac Shakur - A Short Biography - African American Entertainer

Tupac Shakur was a very influential person in 20th century USA. He was born on June 16, 1971 in Brooklyn New York, and died on September 13, 1996 in Las Vegas Nevada (unknown author, no title, no page, letter code C). But his family moved around a lot while he was a kid (Bastin, J.D.). He eventually ended up in the Bay Area California alone and spent his first two years there homeless (unknown author, no title, n.p., letter code D). He grew up with only his mom and loved her very much. He even wrote a song called Dear Mama to his mom and thanked her for how she tried her best at raising him.

His public career started when he joined the seminal Bay Area rap ensemble (u.a., "original area," n.p.). He started as a tour dancer but then started rapping live (u.a., "original area," n.p.). From there he released a couple albums and then was offered to be in some movies. He became friends with a couple of popular rap artists like Snoop Doggy Dogg and Dr. Dre (Placid n.p.). He made some songs and music videos with them that made it big on the Billboard charts. This really helped his popularity. He released a double CD with the songs on it and a lot of his own songs and sold millions of copies (u.a., n.t., n.p. letter code D) More people were influenced to buy his CD. People listened to the music and did what he said he did. So Tupac was influencing all of these people.

Tupac was rich and famous now. He was showing off his own style now and didn't need his popular friends. This is the time that many people saw the real Tupac and loved him. He was now very influential to fans. They wanted to be just like him. He starred in more movies and could be who he really was. He did a lot of interviews that showed his beliefs. He said self esteem and self respect was very important and said "I feel as though I am a shining prince just like Malcolm and feel that all of us are shining princes, and if we live like shining princes, then whatever we want can be ours. Anything." (Patrick, Tony, n.p.) And when he says all of us, he means all men. He also said he doesn't care if someone is white or black. And no one can be judged by their skin. "So just because it's Black don't mean it's cool, and just because it's White don't mean it's evil."(Patrick, Tony n.p.) If he judged a man, he judged them by what they do to or how they treat others. Tupac wasn't racis! t against any body. And he showed that. I've seen him treat everyone equal that I see him with on TV or even on movies. This is an influence because since people want to be like him, they will follow his beliefs. And if Tupac believes in non-racism, then the people will believe in that too.

This is a big difference from him and other rap artists. A lot of others are racist to different people, and the different people then don't like him, don't listen to his music, don't see his movies, and aren't influenced by him. Almost all races listen to Tupac's music. I've known Mexican, White, Black, Asian, Indian, and even Pakistani people who listened to his music and are influenced and are moved by him. I've even saw a show in Singapore about music here and a Singaporean kid said he listens to Tupac.

Tupac has a lot of self-values that he follows. He even said it's hard sometimes, but he keeps it up. He said "To me it's really troubling because I look over what's successful - Marky Mark, Hammer, Vanilla Ice, New Kids on the Block selling twenty-two million copies, and I want that so badly, but I can't do that. I would be wrong to do that, knowing what I know and having the brain that I have, for me to even go and write some simple shit would be wrong even though I would get paid and I would get more people's money." (Patrick, Tony, n.p.) This means that Tupac has a strong will and values. He resisted the temptation to write some easy rhyming words and get peoples money. He instead followed his values and worked up to his potential.

He says he also believes in Karma (Bastin, J.D., n.p.). That what comes around goes around. And he said he believes in reincarnation too. He wants to be a good man in this life, because he said he knew he was going to die soon (Bastin, J.D., n.p.) and wanted to be ready for the next life. The reason Tupac gives for the reason he makes his music is not only for the money, but so people would know what it was like for him growing up. He also wanted to be remembered. He said "I would rather leave something so that when people pick up 2Pacalypse Now or any of my other albums in 1999, they'll go, 'Damn! Brothers had it hard back in the day, but brothers were working it out." (Patrick, Tony, n.p.)

He said his music is spiritual: a little like gospels, but with a different idea in mind. And that his music was not meant to be danced to, but just to be listened to. His music was for the strong willed (Patrick, Tony, n.p.). He shows his hard life through his music "Which celebrates violent defiance of a society viewed as largely racist and lethal" (Patrick, Tony, n.p.).

I think Tupac influenced most of the people that listen to his music. People start to dress like him and talk like him if they see him on music videos singing his newest song. They could also listen to the things that Tupac says he does, and then do those things themselves. I hope his values and beliefs in a non-racial world also influence people. He does say some bad things, but he did spend eleven and a half months in a maximum-security jail for something he claims he never did and says that he was framed for (Placid, Sylvester n.p.). He also spent two years of his life homeless (u.a., n.t., n.p. letter code D) and grew up having it hard to fit in(u.a., n.t, n.p., letter code B). Tupac was not a normal man, but he was still trying to send a good message to the youth's that listened and still do listen to his music.

He also influenced many future and present rap artists. Biggie Smallz for example sounded just like Tupac, and used the same voice tones as Tupac. I've also heard about five other songs that steal the backgrounds to Tupac's songs. And if there are that many imitators now, there will definitely be a lot in the future.

One of the reasons he was so influential is because he showed his real self to the world through interviews, music videos, movies, his music, and his poetry. He showed his views on the world unlike most other rap artists. Another reason is because people liked his views and liked his non-racial ways. People liked the way he sung about real subjects. Not like the others who sing about nothing much, and then get all the money they can. Also his unique style of mixing new sounds for a new beat really separated his music from others. He didn't use traditional beats that people get tired of. He added a twist to rap and hip-hop music all together. And brought a lot of people to like that.

"Tupac was one of raps most controversial and influential performers" ("tupac" n.p.). "Tupac Amaur Shakur left a distinct impact on American culture that is still being shown today" (u.a., n.t., n.p. letter code D) He was one of the most influential persons in the 20th century America. And I believe he will be remembered and loved by a lot for years to come. He has served and will serve as a role model for younger kids growing up today.

Medical Malpractice - 7 Reasons Why Your Case Isn't Good Enough For A NY Malpractice Lawyer

1. Your injuries are not significant.

In a medical malpractice case in New York the injuries need to be significant for an experienced lawyer to take on your case. The reason is that these cases are very expensive and time consuming. A lawyer generally puts in the same time and effort on a small case as he will on a large case. That is why most NY attorneys will usually take only significant cases.

2. You exaggerate and lie.

If you exaggerate on any aspect of your case, your lawyer may question your credibility. Your believability is the key to your case. If a jury finds that you have exaggerated your injuries or the facts, there's a very good chance they will turn you out of court without any compensation. If you lie, either to your lawyer, or to a jury at trial, your credibility is gone. Your lie, regardless of whether it is a 'little white lie' or a really big fib will likely destroy your entire case. If a jury sees that you have lied, you could possibly subject yourself to perjury charges and lose your case.

3. It's a judgment call by the attorney.

The attorney may be on the fence about your case. The expert may find there is liability that caused harm. However, there may be something else in your set of facts that cause concern for your lawyer. Your lawyer will make the ultimate decision whether to take on your case. Some lawyers make a gut-instinct call to either accept or reject a case after your initial meeting. If your case is rejected, your lawyer will give you your options and advise you to seek another legal opinion immediately in order to protect your legal rights.

4. You are demanding.

Have you ever walked into a store or a restaurant and heard a customer demand food, utensils, a service in a loud and obnoxious voice? Sure you have. We all have. How about the demanding customer who treats the store clerk or waitress like they are hired help with their sole purpose in life is to serve this one customer? How do you think the store clerk or waitress feels when a demanding customer comes in? Of course the 'customer is always right', but how much abuse can a person take before saying something?

There are potential clients like this too. When they come into a lawyer's office, do you think they get better service or worse service by being so demanding? "I want you working on my case exclusively...I only want you call me at the office, not home...Do not send me any emails...I want to make them pay...I will never settle this case..."

5. You insist you have a case and refuse to listen to the lawyer.

You go to a lawyer for legal advice. If you don't listen to the lawyer's advice, why go to a lawyer in the first place?

6. You think you know more about lawsuits and trials than your New York Medical Malpractice Trial lawyer.

Unless you've gone to law school and have practiced law for more than 20 years handling medical malpractice and personal injury law in New York, how could you possibly know more about these types of cases than the experienced lawyer you are consulting with?

7. You are a repeat litigator with multiple small lawsuits.

There are some people who make a hobby out of bringing lawsuits. They feel aggrieved about every little thing that is done wrong to them. They take every advantage to use the legal system to their benefit. While there's nothing inherently wrong with that, when your lawyer learns that you have sued ten people in the last five years for matters ranging from lost clothing at the cleaners, to a restaurant who refused to seat you on time, to your car mechanic who overcharged you $200 for a repair, your medical malpractice lawyer may sense trouble in the future from your legal history.

Conclusion:

Hopefully this will give you some insight into what an experienced New York medical malpractice & accident attorney looks for when you walk into his office.

10 Things to Do and See in New York City

New York City is one of the most visited and fascinating cities in the world. More than 12 million tourists come each year just between Memorial and Labor Day alone! Few other cities can offer the diversity that New York does; all condensed in an area that is a just little over 13 miles long and 2 miles wide! You could easily spend weeks in Manhattan and the surrounding 5 boroughs, but we are listing our top 10 favorite attractions by selecting each one from one of 10 distinct categories.

Unfortunately, New York is one of the most expensive cities to visit in the United States. One of the most cost efficient ways to tour the city is to purchase a City Pass. These passes, purchased in 1, 2, 3, or 7 day durations offer a great value on the city's most popular attractions. The city pass' "Fast Track" privileges are also another great perk. This means that you won't be wasting precious vacation time standing in line.

One of the best ways to get around is to sign up for bus tour that allows you to hop on and off of at your leisure. They have many stops throughout the city and running into the evening. It is a very convenient way to see and get to major points of interest.

1. NYC Icon - Times Square is a major intersection in Manhattan, New York City at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. Times Square is an iconic world landmark defined by its incredible display of animated, digital advertisements. Make sure that you see Times Square after dark. The lights are incredible!

2. Shopping - Macy's is another landmark that shouldn't be missed. The original wooden escalators are still in use today. In December, there is a line around the building just to view the holiday window displays. If you want something more upscale, venture to 5th Avenue and take in all of sights of the high fashion stores... The people watching can't be beat either!

3. History - Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty are our favorites. A great way to see them is to take boat tour that cruises the Hudson River and NYC harbor.

4. Museums- The Metropolitan Museum is hard to beat, but there are so many museums in the city that it is hard to just single out one. Some other wonderful choices are: Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), American Museum of Natural History, The Guggenheim, The Whitney, The Brooklyn Museum (which is the 2nd largest museum in the United States, and the Museum of Television andRadio. You can't go wrong with any of these.

5. Theater - Broadway is a must see. If you want to see the most popular shows on a weekend night, plan ahead and book tickets to your shows ahead of time. Also take into consideration that most shows are "dark" or aren't running 1 night during the week.

6. City Views - The rooftop observation deck of the Empire State Building gives you great views from 86 stories up! Other great vantage points are the "Top of the Rock", which is the 67th-70th-floor observation deck of 30 Rockefeller Plaza in world-famous Rockefeller Center. It is both indoor and outdoor so it is a great choice no matter what the weather is like.

7. Nature - Central Park: In the summer take in the fountains, lush green spaces, and the Central Park Zoo. In the wintertime, don't miss ice skating and hot chocolate at the Wollman Rink. The evening view of the Plaza Hotel from the rink is magical.

8. Ethnic Diversity - Lower Manhattan - Make sure you allow yourself some time to explore Lower Manhattan. The ethnic and eclectic neighborhoods of Chinatown, Little Italy and SoHo have great food and shopping for any taste and budget. You can great great views of the Brooklyn Bridge, NY Harbor from there as well.

9. Finance: Wall Street, also located in lower Manhattan, runs through the historical Financial District. Home to the U.S. Stock Exchange, the NYSE and the NASDAQ, to name a few. The marble facade of the NYSE building is elaborate and very impressive.

10. Politics and Government: The United Nations Building: The United Nations headquarters is a golden rectangled building located in the Turtle Bay neighborhood, on the east side of Midtown Manhattan, overlooking the East River. Even though the building is in New York City, the land occupied by the United Nations Headquarters is considered international territory. Who knew!

Finally, we hope we've inspired you to visit New York City. It truly is one of those cities that you have to visit at least once in your lifetime. It is expensive, but if you do some homework andplan ahead you'll be able to find flights and hotels that will stretch your travel budget and let you have some money left over to enjoy everything this city has to offer.

New York Criminal Records May Shock You

New York is not the largest of the fifty states, but New York City is the biggest city in America. Known as the Big Apple, New York City is the most densely populated city in the United States. Over eight millions people reside there. Approximately 40% of the state's population occupies the under 305 square miles of New York City. New York City is made up of five boroughs - The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. Each borough is located in a different county, but they are all part of what is known as New York City, or the city that never sleeps. When immigrants entered the United States, they came in through Ellis Island, which is situated in New York Harbor, in both New York and New Jersey. Many remained in New York City and started or raised their families there. The city is still a common entry point for immigrants, making New York City the most diverse city in America, as well as the most populous. Approximately 36% of the city's residents were born outside of the United States. According to the 2005 census, Puerto Ricans, Italians, West Indians, Dominicans, and Chinese were the city's five largest ethnic groups. The city has the largest African American community in the United States and the largest Jewish community in the world. With such diversity, and with so many people living in the city, you would think that the crime rate would be very high, but New York criminal records may shock you.

Of course, hate crimes occur in the city. These are violent crimes against people because of their race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. Gang violence and organized crime also exist. However, New York criminal records have decreased steadily over the past twelve years. In 2005, New York City's murder rate was lower than it had been since 1963. Since 2005, New York City has had the lowest crime rate among the twenty-five largest cities in the United States.

Although the state of New York ranks twenty-seventh in area, it ranks third in population. This is largely due to the population of New York City. Other major cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, Syracuse, Albany, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, Schenectady, and Utica. Most of these cities have higher crime rates than New York City. Although more crimes are committed in New York City, based on the population of the cities and the formula that is used to determine crime rate, the smaller cities have higher crime rates. Crime rate is determined by dividing the number of crimes reported by the population multiplied by 1000,000. A great way to compare crime rates of U.S. cities is to visit the various websites that compare crime statistics. You can compare the crime rates of over 8000 cities in the United States and see how they identify with the national average. You can also see how many actual crimes were committed in the two cities that you are comparing. The crime rate for the state of New York is more than thirty percent lower than the national average. Although violent crimes are six percent higher than the national average, property crimes are thirty-seven percent lower than those of the rest of the nation. Criminologists attribute the drop in New York criminal records to the tactics that police have adopted. Sociologists think that the reduction in crime is due to other factors such as improved economic conditions and the end of the crack cocaine epidemic.

Outdoor Activities in New York - The NYC Fishing Experience

If you list the top ten fun activities to do in New York City, the chances that fishing will appear on the list is slim to none. New York City is known for its nightlife, bars and restaurants. Fishing in NYC? Not so much. But if you love fishing and it is an activity you enjoy, there are several NYC fishing locations you can visit this weekend.

You can go for fresh water or salt water fishing in NYC. Most of the time, you cannot keep fresh water fish and you have to release them back in the water but you may keep salt water fish.

You can go for fresh water fishing at several locations in New York City.

• Central Park lakes in Manhattan
• Prospect Park lakes in Brooklyn
• Crotona Lake and Van Cortland Lake in the Bronx
• Meadow Lake, Willow Lake and Baisley Park Pond in Queens
• Clove Lake, Silver Lake, and Wolfe's Pond in Staten Island.

If you are going for saltwater fishing, then you can fish on boats on salt water bodies near the city such as Jamaica Bay, Great Kills or Long Island Sound.

There are some NYC fishing rules you need to keep in mind and be aware of prior to fishing anywhere in or around NYC. Most NYC fishing areas prohibit the use nets and you can only use rods. You can't also use food for bait and you need to use barbless hooks. Bent hooks and spinning are not allowed. You need a fishing license when fishing waters of the Marine District. Usually, 15 pounds is the minimum breaking strain line for carp/cats.

New York City is known for its skyscrapers not for its nature centers; with the exception of Central Park. Escaping the concrete jungle within the city limit is important to unwind and relax. So be responsible and follow New York City regulations that protect and make marine life healthy for fishing. Remember that we need to upkeep and preserve the few nature centers we have in New York City for everyone including future generations.

So now that you know where to fish in NYC, go ahead and enjoy an afternoon of fishing this weekend. It will be a relaxing escape from the frantic pace of New York City life.

Hushabye - The Mystics

The Mystics are a singing group which began in Brooklyn, New York, USA in the late 1950s. The group was known as The Overons, a quintet that, when signed to Laurie Records, consisted of Phil Cracolici (b. 1937, lead), Albee Cracolici (b. 1936, baritone), George Galfo (b. 1939, second tenor), Bob Ferrante (b. 1936, first tenor), and Al Contrera (b. 1940, bass). Under the direction of their manager, Jim Gribble, The Overons became The Mystics when each group member wrote a name they liked on a slip of paper, placed the papers in a hat and Al Contrera's choice was drawn.
